ABC News - Stephen Stills Fans May Get a "Kick Out of" His Band The Rides' New Tune
The Rides, Stephen Stills’ blues-rock project with Kenny Wayne Shepherd and ex-Electric Flag keyboardist Barry Goldberg, return with their second album, Pierced Arrow, next week.
In advance of the record’s May 6 release, the band has shared the lead track, “Kick Out of It,” online at The Huffington Post.
The mid-tempo rock tune is highlighted by some blazing guitar work from Stills and Shepherd and Stephen’s attitude-heavy vocals.
“This song is authentic rock ‘n’ roll at its best,” Shepherd tells The Huffington Post. “This is the first song we wrote together for this record and it really set the tone for the entire album. It’s vintage Stephen Stills. The song idea was conceived decades ago and was finished with The Rides.”
Pierced Arrow is the follow-up to the band’s 2013 debut, Can’t Get Enough. The Rides’ lineup also features longtime Crosby, Stills & Nash touring bassist Kevin McCormick and drummer Chris Layton, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015 as a member of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble.
The Rides will launch a U.S. tour in support of Pierced Arrow this Monday, May 2, in Burnsville, Minnesota. The trek currently is mapped out through a June 5 concert in Riverside, California.
